We Are Back
After what feels like an extremely long time life at Street Soccer Academy is starting to get back to normality, even if that means a ‘new’ normal. In this blog we provide an update on life as we emerge from the restrictions of lockdown and to share updates on upcoming developments for our charity
Regional Super Centres
Our work in community takes place at a number of centres across Greater Manchester & Lancashire and after an extended period in lockdown, sanctioned by our governing body, The FA, we are now operating fully at all our centres. With the welfare of our service users our highest priority a number of protocols have been implemented to ensure we operate in a Covid-safe manner, but we are happy to report competitive football is back on the agenda. Since returning feedback from our service users has confirmed the importance of the work we do with a high percentage of our beneficiaries reporting the negative impact of isolation felt during the covid lockdown.
Referrals are being accepted for all regions from partner agencies. Any agency wishing to refer clients onto our programmes should check out our referrals page for acceptability criteria and contact details
Custody Programmes
Our work delivering our Coach Education & Personal Development programme has been effected much the same as our work in community, with programmes suspended during the lockdown. In June/July our programmes recommenced with varying amounts of amendments to comply with the local restrictions that remain in force to assist the prison and probation service maintain control over the spread of the virus in their facilities. Details of our custody programmes can be viewed on the Justice Services page of this website. Any agencies interested in discussing a custody to community partnership should contact SSA HQ (Email: info@streetsocceracademy.co.uk)
SSA HQ & SSA Connections Centre
In the coming weeks we are looking forward to occupying new office space which will become the hub for our work across both our custody and community programmes. The new SSA HQ will also incorporate the SSA Connections Centre which will provide a resource to enable us to work more closely in addressing the needs of our service users, helping us to defeat the effects of isolation felt by many of our service users.
